When to See a Specialist

A Radiologist is a medical specialist who interprets diagnostic imaging tests (X-rays, CT scans, MRI, ultrasound) to help diagnose diseases. You typically don't visit a Radiologist directly — your treating doctor orders the tests and the Radiologist provides the expert interpretation.

• •Need for guided biopsy under imaging (interventional radiology)
• •Cancer screening — mammography, CT lung screening
• •Pregnancy — routine ultrasound scans
• •Musculoskeletal injury requiring imaging assessment
• •Follow-up imaging to track treatment progress

Always bring previous imaging studies (CDs or printed films) when getting new scans. Comparison with prior images helps the Radiologist identify changes accurately.
